I am writing to ask for your support for Project J.O.Y (Jesus, Others, Yourself). Project J.O.Y. provides meals for those in need; elderly, homeless, or those who cannot afford a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
This will be our sixth annual community Thanksgiving event. We have extended our reach from 300 for the first year to 500 plus in 2012. In 2011 we also added The Meals on Wheels program to our distribution list. The Meals on Wheels program does not deliver on holidays, thus these individuals will go without meals on Thanksgiving Day, as well, as the others we serve.
Project J.O.Y. is based on a group of volunteers and donations. We do not receive any government funding and are truly a non-profit group. The goal of this program is to provide people with food and emotional support throughout the holiday season, while creating a menu that is practical and sensitive to budget constraints.
We will be preparing 1,000 meals. To accomplish our goal we are seeking donations of turkey, can green beans, rolls, desserts, can sweet potatoes, sweet tea, bottle water, or monetary donations.
Please feel free to contact me with further questions.
We appreciate your support.
